Hot Springs Oceanside is a community of like-minded families and friends working to preserve and enjoy a piece of a very special west coast wilderness area located in the heart of Clayoquot Sound on the remote west coast of Canada’s Vancouver Island. Clayoquot sound has been designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
“Hot Springs Oceanside” is the informal name for The Owners, Strata VIS6527, a bare land strata of 51 strata lots located north of Maquina Provincial Park on the Openit Peninsula at Hot Springs Cove B.C.
In 1997 a likeminded group of 38 families, friends and individuals purchased this 207 acre property in Hot Springs Cove with the intent of creating an environmentally responsible, small footprint, getaway for the enjoyment of ourselves, our friends and families of today and tomorrow.
When we purchased the property about 10 percent of it had been logged and some primitive logging roads that are now trails were created. There was only one small wooden shed on the property that is now our community “telephone booth” and maintenance shed. We have steadily worked our way through zoning, consultations with our neighbours and government entities, individual visions, building challenges and the subdivision process to arrive where we are today. The property has been divided into 51 ocean front bare land strata lots with an approximate 90-acre central common area. Bylaws, covenants and guidelines have been created to ensure that the visions of the initial owners will be protected.
The Bare Land Strata was formed in 2009. This 207 acre piece of waterfront property is surrounded by the quintessential west coast wilderness experience. Eagles soar, remote beaches and forests beckon, fish and wildlife still abound and the air is fresh, the water pure. The foreshores are alive with life, whales, sea lions, wolves, bears, sea otters, birds of many feathers and all other examples of west coast wildlife are our neighbours.
Deserted bays, coves and inlets await touring and exploring by boat, kayak and hiking.
